Solar Pool Heaters

Free Heat For Your Pool

Solar Pool Heater
The panel style solar heating system for above ground pools uses only the sun to raise the temperature of your pool. It uses your existing pool pump to circulate water through the solar collectors, heat it by the sun, and return it to the pool. Hook up is very easy. You connect the pump output to the heater then connect the heater to the pool. That's it.

And they really work. I have been using them since we got our kids an 8' above ground. We went to a 12' and now we have a 15' above ground and all we had to do was add more panels. We get temperatures above 100 degrees if we let it run. We actually have to shut it off so the pool doesn't get too hot.

The trick is to get the correct number of panels for your pool. Too few panels and you won't get the heat you want. Too many panels and it will get too hot too fast. In my experience, 1 panel will work for up to 8' pools,  2 panels will obviously heat it much faster but if you want to save money, 1 panel will work. 10' to 12' foot pool will need at least 2 panels and again more panels will heat faster. 12' to 15' pools will need 4 panels.

Keep in mind that your location has a lot to do with the number of panels required. The recommendations above are for my CT home which is pretty chilly sometimes. If you live further south, you will definitely use less panels. The panels are 2' by 20' and can be purchased individually or in just about any combination up to 10 panels.
